Volunteering

May contain: person and field

The Crystal Lakes Volunteer Fire Department is always looking for new firefighters and special duty responders.  You do not need previous firefighting experience or to be in top physical condition to help.  You also do not need to be on the mountain all the time.

Firefighters are expected to attend trainings (about six hours per month) and fire department meetings, and to answer emergency calls when they are on the mountain. They are also asked to help out with our community and fund-raising activities. Firefighters who serve ten or more years in good standing (attending thirty-six or more hours of training per year) are eligible to receive a pension.

Special Duty Responders are expected to attend fire department meetings and any trainings which apply to them (between 10 and 20 hours each year).  They are also expected to answer emergency calls when they are on the mountain.  Special duty responders are asked to help out with our community and fund-raising activities.

Please come to one of our department meetings (6:00 pm on the fourth Thursday of every month in the Wapiti Room) to meet us and to see if joining the fire department is for you. We recommend that all prospective volunteers read the New Member Orientation Guide and department Rules & Regulations to give them a solid understanding of member expectations.  You can also contact any officer of the fire department for more information, or you can fill out the form below and a fire department member will contact you.
